Thurles, to the south of the district is 5 km (3 miles) from the M8 (Cork–Dublin) motorway. Roscrea is beside the M7 (Limerick–Dublin) motorway to the north of the County and Templemore is equidistant to both the M7 and M8 motorways – providing a 1-hour catchment population of 803,726.

The Templemore-Thurles District is steeped in heritage, culture and sport.
