Tipperary based company VisionID is proof that having multinational organisations in the county helps domestic companies to expand internationally. Through delivering quality services to locally based multinationals VisionID, a leading computing and data capture company based in Clonmel, now has opportunities to work on projects outside of Ireland.

Currently 30% of Vision ID’s business comes from international projects, demonstrating the importance international business has placed on its continued growth and success.

Business expansion is not the only benefit for Vision ID from working with multinational organisations in Tipperary. Working with companies such as Boston Scientific has allowed VisionID to expand their knowledge on how larger organisations work. Not only is this knowledge and expertise highly valuable for VisionID, it is also transferable to their suppliers, clients and local businesses, helping the whole community develop enterprise skills.

Robert Jones, Managing Director at VisionID, believes that the success of multinationals, like Boston Scientific, has a lot to do with availability of local talent in Tipperary.

“There is an educated and skilled workforce available in Tipperary, especially with third level institutes such as the LIT Clonmel campus. Being located in Tipperary provides a better work/life balance as you don’t have to commute far for work like you would in the cities, which makes it ideal for people with families who can spend more quality time together.”

As some of the FDI companies in Tipperary offer a practical way of training people on technical roles via apprenticeships, the talent pool in Tipperary is diversifying and upskilling arguably resulting in a better equipped workforce for the future. This is having a local influence on colleges developing, for example, more engineering programmes to fill local jobs into the future.

“Multinational companies have helped to develop the talent pool in Tipperary by upskilling people in the technology sector.” - Robert Jones, Managing Director at VisionID

For over 17 years VisionID has been going from strength to strength, demonstrating a clear path from Tipperary to global business success. The focus on adding value to large multinationals and building symbiotic relationships is key to attracting more multinational organisations and ensuring Tipperary is viewed as a technology and engineering hub in a global context.

VisionID is a leading mobile computing and data capture system integrator across Ireland, and one of the largest technology companies in county Tipperary. They work with large and small organisations alike, providing innovative technology that automates data capture processes and mobilise their workforce - helping them to increase operational efficiency, enhance visibility and/or secure traceability across their organisation.
