9 small businesses to create a total of 106 jobs in Tipperary, Limerick and Clare, supported by their Local Enterprise Office
The Minister for Trade, Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection, Pat Breen T.D. has today (September 24th) announced the creation of 42 new jobs for Tipperary and 106 new jobs in total across the Mid-West region, spread across nine small businesses supported by Local Enterprise Offices in Tipperary, Limerick and Clare.
42 full-time and part-time jobs are being created by three companies in Tipperary including Mack Engineering, Nenagh, Horizon Offsite Ltd, Cahir and Phil Purcell Engineering Ltd in Upperchurch, Thurles.
26 full-time and part-time new jobs are being created by three Clare companies (AiP Thermoform Packaging Ltd, Core Optimisation and Vanderlust Campervans) and 38 full-time jobs are being created by three Limerick-based companies (Black Bear Software, Celignis Ltd and ABS Engineering Control).
Minister Breen met with the Promoters and staff from all nine companies today on a visit to Tipperary, Limerick and Clare and while in Nenagh met with the Cathaoirleach, members and Chief Executive of Tipperary County Council. Others in attendance included officials from the Local Enterprise Office, Enterprise Ireland, Chambers of Commerce and the local business community.
Making the announcement in Nenagh, Minister Breen said: “I warmly welcome these 42 Local Enterprise Office supported jobs by three Tipperary companies. In a challenging business environment, LEO clients have contributed substantially to economic development throughout the country and I want to pay tribute to the company owners and their teams on their performance to date. I would also like commend Local Enterprise Office Tipperary on the tremendous work they do and the supports they provide to nurture these businesses throughout the county. The Government, through the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation, is investing heavily in regional development and I am delighted to see that this investment is helping small businesses and start-ups in Tipperary to grow, create more jobs and enter new markets.”
Councilor Mattie Ryan, Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council welcomed the Minister and representatives from the Department of Business , Enterprise & Innovation, Enterprise Ireland, IDA, Chambers of Commerce, Tipperary Education & Training Board, Local Development Companies, members of the business community and colleagues from Tipperary County Council and Local Enterprise Office. The Cathaoirleach stated “At local authority level we are taking all the necessary steps to ensure that we have the land banks, infrastructure, connectivity, skills and conditions in place to promote and support local business, grow our ambitious indigenous firms and attract further foreign direct investment”
Speaking at the jobs announcement, Joe Mac Grath, Chief Executive of Tipperary County Council said,

We are very proud of the strong indigenous industry presence here in Tipperary and join with the Minister in applauding the success of 3 of our emerging manufacturing businesses; Horizon Offsite, Phil Purcell Engineering and Mack Engineering who collectively will contribute 42 new and sustain the 25 existing jobs already in place over the next few 2 years. These new jobs are a fantastic boost for Tipperary and a great example of how small and developing businesses are contributing to regional jobs growth and balanced economic recovery. Today’s announcement is an opportunity to recognise and highlight the variety of industries and job opportunities that exist around the country. A key focus for local authorities is on making great places to live and work and creating attractive environments for businesses to establish and flourish.”
Rita Guinan of the Local Enterprise Office Tipperary said: “Helping small businesses start and grow is at the very heart of what Local Enterprise Offices do and this jobs announcement is very positive for Tipperary. Three locally-based small businesses are bringing 42 valuable jobs to communities across the county and the Local Enterprise Office wants to acknowledge their hard-earned success and congratulate them on their job creation achievements. Through financial assistance, mentoring and training supports, Local Enterprise Offices help hundreds of start-ups and small companies every year to grow their businesses throughout the region. Last year in the Mid-West alone, over 3,000 people were trained around starting and growing a business, 530 mentoring assignments were organised and 4,800 people were employed in 820 LEO-backed companies.”
Congratulating the Tipperary companies on their performance, Mark Christal, Manager of Enterprise Ireland’s Regions and Entrepreneurship Division, said: “Achieving strong regional growth is a key focus for Enterprise Ireland under the Regional Action Plans for Jobs and these 42 Local Enterprise Office-supported jobs for Tipperary demonstrate the benefits of this approach. The supports that are in place to boost job creation, including these new jobs being announced today, underpin the successful collaboration between the Local Enterprise Offices, Local Authorities and Enterprise Ireland that help more Irish companies realise their global ambition.”
The 31 Local Enterprise Offices are located in each county and provide a ‘first stop shop’ of supports and expert advice for entrepreneurs, start-ups, micro enterprises and small businesses providing training, mentoring and financial supports. Funding for the Local Enterprise Offices, working in partnership with the local authorities and Enterprise Ireland, is provided by the Government of Ireland through the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation.
